Let’s talk about Primary
Primary English tutoring focuses on building essential literacy skills aligned with the National Curriculum. Every lesson focuses on developing skills in reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary.
Our tailored lessons support children from Reception to Year 6 and P1 to 7 in Scotland, building essential literacy skills aligned with the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence. Helping them gain confidence in reading fluency, comprehension, and written expression. Whether preparing for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, Key Stage 1 or KS2 SATs, or simply needing a boost in literacy skills, our tutors adapt their approach to each child's individual needs.
We reinforce classroom learning and address gaps through targeted support in areas like inference, creative writing, and SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar). Our goal is to equip our students with the tools they need to succeed academically—and foster a lifelong love of reading and writing.
We also offer 11 Plus preparation (Years 4–6 / P5–P7), focusing on English, comprehension, and verbal reasoning.
Back to Basics
We start out tutoring by bringing your child back to the root of their difficulties.
To support your child, we begin our tutoring at the root of their challenges, identified during the assessment process.
What is a free assessment and how does it work?
It is easy and completely FREE!
Step 1
Call your local centre or book online today. Share some basic information, pick a convenient appointment and we will take care of the rest.
Step 2
Your child will complete some educational activities supported by one of our friendly team, allowing us to see their strengths and challenges. Whilst you relax in our comfortable surroundings.
Step 3
You will receive full feedback on our findings and we will walk you through our plan to support your child to reach their potential. This is a perfect time to ask any questions or share specific information about your child’s goals.
Step 4
Your child will attend regular weekly sessions with their tutor, receiving one to one teaching within a small group setting, feeling success every lesson.

Every lesson is planned with care and compassion to make your child feel like a SUPERSTAR!

Does Tutoring Work?
Absolutely, but don’t just take our word for it.
Take it from Julie, a Kip McGrath parent, who shared:
"My daughter attended Kip McGrath for help specifically with her division. It was quickly assessed to be a lack of understanding of pie graphs and fractions which she had fallen behind in Year 3."
This story highlights one of Kip McGrath’s strengths: identifying the root cause of academic issues, not just addressing surface-level symptoms. Once those foundational gaps are filled, children often progress rapidly and their confidence soars."
