We provide personalised learning programmes designed to suit each student's unique needs. Every 60-minute session includes one-to-one tutor support, alongside engaging written and computer-based activities, in a small group setting. Our tutors are qualified teachers, committed to using proven methods to close learning gaps and boost achievement. Alternative Provision with an Academic Focus

At Kip McGrath Chesterfield West and Kip McGrath Matlock, we are deeply committed to ensuring every child has access to the education they deserve, regardless of their circumstances. As registered alternativeprovision providers (with the local authority), we specialise in delivering bespoke sessions focused on achieving progress in English and Maths. Each session is personalised to a student’s learning style, designed to build on their prior knowledge, while addressing specific gaps in their learning. Our approach not only reinforces their learning but also challenges them, fostering confidence and self-belief as they advance through their education.

We offer flexible tutoring options, including in-centre, in-school, face-to-face, and online sessions. Whether supporting a student with an EHCP requiring tailored assistance, a young person on a part-time timetable, or those currently disengaged from education, we can provide the structured support they need. We also offer interventions for Looked After Children (LAC) and SEN students, with sessions available throughout the day, Monday to Friday, in addition to our after-school sessions across both centres.

The Kip McGrath Difference

Proven Partnerships and Success Stories

Over the past year, we’ve built strong partnerships with several schools in Derbyshire, including St Mary’s Catholic High School, Netherthorpe School, Highfields School, and Swanwick School and Sports College. We also work closely with Virtual Schools to deliver specialised support for LAC students.

Our success stories illustrate the impact of our approach. Last year, we worked with a Year 11 student who had been excluded from school and was refusing to engage in education. Through personalised one-to-one support, we helped re-engage him, guiding him to understand the importance of his education and GCSEs. He successfully sat his exams, earning the grades needed to progress to college. Similarly, we supported a Year 10 student with an EHCP who had not attended school since Year 7. By creating a supportive environment focused on her personal interests, we helped her make significant academic progress. This positive experience encouraged her to return to school this year.

Our Commitment to Quality Education

With over 10 years of experience in primary education, including roles as SENCO and Vice Principal, I understand the unique challenges facing students, especially those with additional needs. This year alone, we are delivering over 50 tailored sessions each week to ensure every child receives the education they deserve.

All of our tutors are qualified teachers and fully DBS checked. We adhere to strict safeguarding protocols, with each site having a DSL and all tutors completing annual NSPCC safeguarding training and first-aid certification every three years. Both centres are also in the process of becoming OFSTED registered and recognised centres for Functional Skills Examinations.
