Let’s talk about Primary
Primary English tutoring focuses on building essential literacy skills aligned with the National Curriculum. Every lesson is designed to develop skills in reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary.
Our tailored lessons support children from Reception to Year 6 and P1 to 7 in Scotland, building essential literacy skills aligned with the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence. Helping them gain confidence in reading fluency, comprehension, and written expression. Whether preparing for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, Key Stage 1 or KS2 SATs, or simply needing a boost in literacy skills, our tutors adapt their approach to each child's individual needs.
We reinforce classroom learning and address gaps through targeted support in areas like inference, creative writing, and SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar). Our goal is to equip our students with the tools they need to succeed academically—and foster a lifelong love of reading and writing.
We also offer 11 Plus preparation (Years 4–6 / P5–P7), focusing on English, comprehension, and verbal reasoning.
Empowering children worldwide for over 45 years, at Kip McGrath you are in safe hands.

Does Tutoring Work?
Absolutely, but don’t just take our word for it.
Take it from Julie, a Kip McGrath parent, who shared:
"We've had a brilliant experience with Kip McGrath over the past two years. Every member of staff is welcoming, professional, and genuinely supportive. Our daughter has been attending sessions during her final two years of secondary school, and the difference we've seen in her is remarkable. She's grown so much in confidence and her academic progress has gone beyond what we expected. Many Thanks to everyone!"
